The final stage of the NSW Government review of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1986, which has been carried out to comply with the Competition Principles Agreement between the States and the Commonwealth is now occurring.

Membership of the Board under the Veterinary Practice Act 2003

Under the new Veterinary Practice Act 2003 there will be no VSIC (the complaints will be handled within the Board and the Board’s subcommittees) and the membership of the Board will be expanded and changed. This change is expected mid 2006. The new Act specifies the Board will have 8 members.

Registrar's Report

Veterinarians at times perform tasks and treatments of great complexity while on other occasions the work may be seen to be quite simple. We all acknowledge the need for good communication between members of the practice team and the client, but there will be times when that little extra effort is needed.

Pesticide Use and the Veterinarian

On September 2003, the Pesticides Amendment (User Training) Regulation 2005 commenced. From 1 September 2005 all non-domestic users of pesticides need the necessary training in the safe use of pesticides.
