Search for a Veterinary Practitioner, Specialist or Veterinary Practice

Please read the information booklet for registration as a specialist veterinary practitioner in NSW. Complete the booklet forms and post to the Board's Office together with any additional information/documentation and two cheques made out as follows:

Assessment Fee of $1100.00 (inc. $100 GST). Payable to the "Australasian Veterinary Boards Council" (AVBC). The assessment fee must be paid by cheque. The AVBC do not accept credit card payment.
Registration Fee of $220.00. Payable to the "Board of Veterinary Practitioners of NSW". Payable by cheque or credit card.

Specialist Fees Form

Upon receipt, your application will be forwarded to the Advisory Committee on the Registration of Veterinary Specialists (ACRVS) for comment. This Committee has been established to help maintain uniformity of registration standards between States. Once a recommendation is received from ACRVS, the Board will consider your application. Please allow 2-3 months from initial receipt to final determination.

The following are considered to be specialist branches of veterinary science (This list is not a full list of specialist branches - a more complete list is included in the information booklet):

Veterinary Anaesthesiology
Veterinary Medicine
Veterinary Ophthalmology
Veterinary Pathobiology
Veterinary Radiology
Veterinary Reproduction
Veterinary Surgery

In addition there shall be separate specialist branches of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Pathobiology, Veterinary Reproduction and Veterinary Surgery in respect of any particular or any class of animal species or animal organ system.

If you are registered as a Specialist in another State or Territory, please complete an application form and enclose a copy of your Specialist registration certificate or letter of approval.
